Ron Sneed has spent nearly five decades practicing law in the community where he grew up. A native of Black Mountain and graduate of Owen High School, Ron earned his undergraduate degree from Jacksonville University before serving in the United States Army. He returned to North Carolina to attend the University of North Carolina School of Law, graduating in 1978.

After law school, Ron returned to Black Mountain and began building a legal practice to serve the people of the Swannanoa Valley. He established his own firm in 1982, laying the foundation for what would become Sneed & Stearns.

Over the course of his career, Ron has represented thousands of clients in matters involving real estate, estate planning and administration, business transactions, construction contracts and conflicts, civil litigation, and local government law. His experience spans everything from helping families buy their first homes to advising on complicated real estate developments and representing local governments on matters of public importance.

For 41 years, Ron served as attorney for the Town of Black Mountain, providing legal counsel through decades of growth, change, and challenges facing the community.

In 2021, Ron sold the firm to Anna Stearns, who began her legal career working alongside him as a high school intern. Today, he continues to practice with Sneed & Stearns, bringing decades of experience, deep knowledge of Western North Carolina, and a longstanding commitment to the clients and community he has served throughout his career.
